The problem
TownHall's Green Goddess canned cocktail needed packaging that could compete for attention in a crowded cooler and still read as part of the TownHall family. A quiet label would have been passed over.
Background
TownHall's Green Goddess is a canned cocktail built around vodka, jalapeño, arugula, cucumber and lemon. The package had to stand out in a crowded cooler and read as a TownHall product at a glance.
The design wraps a single bold illustration around the can, with the Green Goddess name and a TownHall or Nowhere banner carrying the brand's voice directly onto the label.
Objectives
- 01
Create a can and crowler design that stands out on shelf and in social photos
- 02
Carry TownHall's bold, playful voice directly onto the package
- 03
Build a label system that scales from crowler to 12 oz can without losing impact
Audience: TownHall guests and cocktail drinkers looking for something distinctive in the ready-to-drink cooler.
Process
Planning, strategy, execution.
- 01Planning
Packaging as the first impression
Planning started with the physical object: what a person sees first on a cooler shelf, what reads at arm's length, and what gets photographed for social.
- Audited the can and crowler formats for printable area, seams and legal copy requirements
- Prioritized the illustration as the single dominant visual hook
- Set the color palette around deep green, soft sage and warm pink for shelf contrast
- 02Strategy
A portrait with brand voice baked in
The strategy made the illustration the personality of the drink and used the TownHall or Nowhere line as a branded banner, so the package sells the cocktail and the restaurant at the same time.
- Custom portrait illustration with flowing hair and patterned sunglasses becomes the can's signature
- Green Goddess wordmark built for strong horizontal and vertical lockups
- TownHall or Nowhere banner reinforces the brand's existing voice
- Ingredient line and ABV treated as clean, scannable details, not clutter
- 03Execution
One system, two formats
Execution delivered print-ready label artwork for both the vertical crowler and the standard 12 oz can, keeping the same illustration and typographic hierarchy intact.
- Crowler layout with full vertical illustration panel and product details
- 12 oz can wrap adapting the artwork around the full circumference
- Print-ready files with color-separated artwork and live copy areas
Creative approach
A portrait-led illustration becomes the immediate visual hook — flowing hair, patterned sunglasses and saturated greens and pinks give the can its own personality while staying within TownHall's bold, playful world.
The vertical crowler layout treats the can as a poster: the illustration dominates the face, the product name locks in a strong wordmark, and the ingredient line and ABV sit as clean, scannable details.
Color blocking in deep green, soft sage and warm pink keeps the system bright without losing shelf presence, and the same artwork scales from crowler to standard 12 oz can.
